项目故事

The Quebrada Blanca copper mine is located in the Tarapac á region of northern Chile, at an altitude of 4400 meters, approximately 240 kilometers southeast of the city of Iquique, and 1500 kilometers away from Santiago. Teck Resources, headquartered in Vancouver, holds a 60% stake in the copper mine, while Sumitomo Corporation of Japan holds a 30% indirect interest in the mine. Enami, a Chilean national mining company, holds the remaining 10% of non-financial equity. Teck Resources Ltd reported in August 2018 that regulatory authorities approved the expansion of its Quebrada Blanca copper mine phase II project in northern Chile, which cost $4.8 billion. The expansion project will increase the project's annual copper production to 300000 tons.

Quebrada Blanca Copper Mine is a large open-pit copper mine that is processed into a copper cathode at the SX-EW factory. The cathode copper is transported by truck to Iquique and then to the buyer. The mining personnel live within the campsite facilities, with most people commuting from large population centers, including Iquique, Arica, and Santiago. Quebrada Blanca produced 21100 tons of copper cathodes in 2019, compared to 25500 tons in 2018.
