Silicon steel

  • Silicon steel

Overview

Silicon steel, also known as electrical steel, is an iron silicon alloy in which the silicon element has magnetism. The addition of silicon improves the soft magnetism of steel and increases its resistivity, mainly used as a magnetic material in motors, transformers, electrical appliances, and electrical instruments. Silicon steel is generally low-carbon steel, with a carbon content of no more than 0.08% and a silicon content between 0.5% and 4.5%. Silicon steel can be further divided into oriented silicon steel and non oriented silicon steel, among which oriented silicon steel can also be subdivided into conventional oriented silicon steel (RGO) and high permeability oriented silicon steel (HGO). Silicon steel is known for its high magnetic permeability and low iron loss, which makes it highly favored in the power industry applications, such as large and small motors, relays, solenoids, electrical motors, wind turbines, transformer cores, new energy electric vehicles, generator equipment, etc.

Product characteristics

  • Due to the high magnetic permeability, low coercivity, and high resistance coefficient of silicon steel, it has lower hysteresis and eddy current losses

  • In order to meet the needs of punching and shearing processing when manufacturing electrical appliances, a certain degree of plasticity is also required. In order to improve magnetic induction performance and reduce hysteresis loss, it is required that the content of harmful impurities should be as low as possible, and the plate shape should be flat and the surface quality should be good

  • The production process of hot-rolled silicon steel has been phased out in China, and the current production and supply are all cold-rolled silicon steel. The iron loss performance of silicon steel supplied by Zoomlion Products far exceeds the iron loss requirements of national standards
